An old fighter pilot once passed on some of his infinite wisdom to the Keg Guy. He said,
"Don't ever turn your favorite hobby into a job, all you do is lose a hobby."
I guess this has proven to be somewhat true regarding The Keg Guy's beer hobby but not in a bad way. What The Keg Guy notices now when he goes out and pays $5-$9 for a draft beer, (I tell Mrs. Keg Guy that this is necessary research) is that most of the time it just can't compare to the beer he has flowing in his own home. It's usually too warm, to flat, or really just not worth the price.
Usually when the beer isn't just right, it's for one of two reasons. It hasn't been stored cold or the system is contaminated. The Keg Guy is a firm believer in draft beer because the product is handled less and is kept cold unlike bottled beer which can fluctuate in temperature numerous times before it hits your taste buds. Also very important, is to keep your draft system clean and free of contaminants. This is why, when you order in the local pub, many times your beer is flat. Some establishments just don't spend the necessary time, or some just don't know when or how to clean their systems properly.
